New Historic Site

Doukhobor Dugout House in Saskatchewan has been designated as a National Historic Site by the HSMBC. The remains of the house are the last surviving example of this type of temporary dwelling constructed by the Doukhobors when they immigrated to Canada. Almost 8000 Doukhobors immigrated to Canada in 1899 to escape religious persecution in Russia.
