Endangered Trees

The government of Alberta is examining the possibility of classifying two species of tree as endangered. The Limber and Whitebark Pine (Pinus flexilis and P. albicaulis) are suffering from an outbreak of Mountain Pine Beetles (Dendroctonus ponderosae) and White Pine Blister Rust (Cronartium ribicola), a non-native fungus.
