This is going to be an interesting experiment.
For many years, in fact most of my life, I did not keep a journal. I was not interested or motivated. Once in a while, however, I revisited the possibility in my mind. Finally I decided, even if I only take a few jot notes and record the weather, that is better than nothing. Maybe someday they will contribute to the historical record. (Arguably they already have.)
So I began my journal with low standards, not demanding very much from myself. My few notes on the day's events have evolved into a repository of thoughts, questions, ramblings, rantings a little philosophizing, and a page full of disconnected squares. The process of keeping a journal is now quite valuable to me where once I just could not be bothered to pick up a pen. (I even started writing letters too, maybe I'm a Luddite at heart.)
Now I approach the task of blogging. Another tiny mark on the historical record. Something that could turn out to be a valuable process for me. Plus it sounds like this will be an interesting tool to build and work with over the year.
I look forward to the experience.
